Universal Development Industries Co. (UDI) is a Joint-Venture Co. established in 2000 under investment law No. (8) - 1997 with 100% Egyptian Capital of $2,000,000.
After Extensive studies in the Egyptian Local Market, Arabian Countries, Middle East, Africa, Europe and USA for the growth demand of information and communications technologies, "UDI" has found a major need for the "Battery Packs" used for Wireless and Mobile Communication sets.

It is worth to mention that the estimated quantity being consumed currently by the local market is 60,000 Battery Packs/Year for wireless radios only in addition to unidentified quantity of battery packs required to serve over 4,000,000 mobile phones operating in the market now.

After studying the largest and most advanced - from a technology point of view - Battery Packs manufacturers world wide, "UDI" has successfully reached an agreement with "SONIC COMMUNICATIONS" of The United Kingdom to manufacture locally all range of Battery Packs products under the name "SONIC BATTERIES" and up to the highest and latest technological standards under their direct supervision and quality control procedure (ISO 9000-2000) and according to the highest recognized technical specifications covering all the needs of Battery Packs Industry.

In order to secure the best environment for local manufacturing, "UDI" have established it's production facility in the Industrial Zone of "ELOBOUR CITY" - EAST CAIRO - on an approximate area of 3000 m2 of land under the supervision of reputable Technical consultancy firms.
The factory is designed to fulfill the manufacturing needs of Battery Packs for the Local Market in addition to the exportation plan to cover Arabian Countries, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and USA.

The design has allowed for future manufacturing expansion up to 16 production lines in parallel, it is worth to mention that the number of management staff & employees will exceed 120.

According to project time schedule, the factory will start production of Battery Packs by JULY 2002 with approximate quantity of 100,000 Battery Packs / Year and increasing gradually according to Market demand to reach 500,000 Battery Packs/ Year.
"UDI" will be proudly the first Battery Packs manufacturer in Egypt and the Middle East aiming to satisfy both public and private sectors needs.
